Kyra received her BA from Columbia in 1987. After graduation, she worked in the US House Majority Whip’s office and then returned to the New York area to pursue a career in public transportation policy. She spent over a decade in public transportation policy and government relations with the NYC Mayor’s office, the NY Metropolitan Transportation Authority and the NJ Department of Transportation. Kyra has served on the Boards of All Saints Episcopal Day School in Hoboken, NJ and the Village Community School in Manhattan. She chaired the 2006-2009 VCS Capital Campaign and currently chairs VCS’ Annual Fund. Kyra runs the Hoboken All Star Travel Soccer Club and is a member of the US Soccer Foundation Leadership Council. She also currently serves as vice president of the Columbia College Alumni Association Board, co-chair of the College Fund Development Council and is a member of the Columbia College Board of Visitors.
Kyra lives in Hoboken, NJ with her husband, David Barry and her three children, Olivia (15), Jake (13) and Charley (10).
