Summer wrestling camp is one of the key components of Beat the Streets' mission to develop the full human and athletic potential of New York City youth. Here's how it works and how you can participate. If you have any questions, check out the list of Frequently Asked Questions.
Our graduated program consists of three levels:
You must complete each level to be eligible for the next. Each level has it's own set of Application Procedures and Completion Requirements. These are evolving and the most up-to-date information will be here.
The Beginner Camp is required for all first year campers, but open to all. It is a 5-day BTS-run camp otuside of New York City with a curriculum focused on the full human development of the student-athlete. It is designed to instill the most fundamental basics in the sport of wrestling - technique, attitude, and accountability - while adding additional training in social etiquette, community service, nutritional awareness, and résumé-building to develop the entire person.
The College Camps are BTS-Approved camps of varying lengths, run by University coaches and wrestlers, and take place on college campuses. Every College Camp will differ in its exact approach, but each one will have at its core the mission to improve the all-around abilities of the participating athlete and will do so by employing a variety of activities, from wrestling and running to weight training and classroom sessions. Some camps will also include personal development activities.
The Intensive camp is the pinnacle of the camp experience. It is a highly rigorous training schedule lasting 10 days or more. The Intensive Camp is only for those who have demonstrated above-average work ethic, dedication, and focus. It is punishing, exhausting, and tests every limit you have. If you complete it, you will have grown by leaps and bounds. All should aspire to this level.
