As the wrestling season approaches, local wrestlers have taken their training up a notch in order to prepare to contend for all-city and all-state honors.  On the weekend of October 20-21, many of the top wrestlers in the city took a training trip to Cornell University.

The wrestlers were able to train on campus at one of the top academic institutions in the country with one of the NCAA’s top wrestling teams.  Sunday morning, the wrestlers scrimmaged with the Finger Lake Wrestling Club and the Tompkins County Community College Club Team at the Friedman Center, which is the nation’s only stand-alone facility devoted solely to collegiate wrestling. Cornell Head Wrestling Coach Rob Koll was happy to serve as host for the trip, saying, "It is exciting to see the growth of the BTS program. It won’t be long before we have former BTS athletes representing the Big Red!"

BTS Coaches Mike Torriero, Allen Cornelius, and Ray Brinzer accompanied the wrestlers on the trip.  According to Torriero, "This was a great opportunity for the student-athletes of NYC. They were afforded an opportunity to visit one of the most premier academic and athletic (wrestling) institutions in the world. Cornell University and its staff are world-class in all facets. It was important for our kids to leave NYC and broaden their perspective for what the world can offer. It was a perfect way to set the tone moving into the High School season."
