113 – Brooklyn International Senior Cheick Ndiaye will be making his third trip to the state tournament after winning the PSAL D2 Title. Cheick is a two-time Mayor’s Cup Champ and took second in his last trip to Albany. He will be looking to top the podium this year.
120 – Because of Cheick’s dominance at 113, a few wrestlers decided to bump up and take their chances at 120, making this weight class one of the most closely contested in the D2 City Tournament. Not deterred by his smaller competitors, RKA Freshmen Mohammed Guernah took home the title on the strength of a pin and a 14-9 decision. He is now 16-3 on the season.

132 – RKA Junior Steven Cook was certainly not the favorite to win his first city title. His finals opponent, Nate Muse from Petrides, was making his third trip to the city finals, but Cook was not intimidated. He won 10-7 and now stands at 10-1 on the season. He will be making his first state tournament appearance.

152 – This weight was one of the most anticipated in the D2 tournament. A few weeks ago, returning City Champ Tyson Simon of Petrides looked like a clear favorite, but at the Mayor’s Cup, Brooklyn International’s Zafar Iskandarov placed fourth and Simon failed to earn a medal. Both competitors pinned their semifinal opponents, setting the stage for the finals where Simon emerged with a 5-2 decision.
