Corey Jantzen (NYAC) a High School Sr. last season, upsetting Chris Fleeger, NCAA Runner-up, in the first round of the 2006 NYAC International Open
Alan Dudaev, 2005 World Champion at 60kg, will lead a talented Group of Russians at the Annual NYAC Holiday Championships scheduled Sat and Sunday November 17-18. The Russia Wrestling Federation will send 17 athletes to the NYAC Holiday Championships.
Russia completely dominated the World Freestyle Championships winning 6 of the 8 weight classes. The Russians had 3 World Champions in Greco Roman Wrestling finishing in second place to the USA by 1 team point.
Their women's program under the leadership of Sergey Belaglazov, former USA National Coaching Staff, is building a strong women's program.
Junior World Champion Bakhtyar Akhmedov, 120 kg and Silver Medalist Soltan Zaseev at 96 kg have been entered.
Most of the entries are from two major Provinces of Dagestan and Ossetia in Chechnya that traditionally provides the bulk of their national teams.
They are terrific wrestlers with very explosives basic skills with great positioning. For the true wrestling fan it is a pleasure to observe such great wrestlers.
Unlike the USA, the Russians as well as most of the European nations, develop their Jr. level [20yrs and under] connecting to their senior level teams. In last year's NYAC Open, two of the entries from Russia, recently won the 2007 World Championships in Baku. Every 2007 World Senior Freestyle Champion were former World Jr. Champions.
The 120kg class is shaping up quite nicely with Tommy Rowlands, last year winner and a member of the 2007 USA World Team as well as Steve Mocco, NYAC who recently won a major International Tournament in Belarus. Most of the top USA Wrestlers have participated in the Event in the past.
USA Wrestling needs all of us to help our Olympic effort. Save the Date!
On Wednesday Evening November 14th there will be a Fundraising Program featuring Michael E. Novogratz, Chairman of the Beat the Streets Wrestling Inc. as the Guest Speaker. All the proceeds from the Dinner will go towards the expenses of training and supporting our NYAC Senior Level Athletes helping them with achieving their dreams of being Olympic Champions. Mike leads a major effort helping kids develop dreams from Youth through the Olympics.

What separates the USA from Russia is Financial Resources. They have millions of dollars to invest into developing World and Olympic Champions. We are being outspent tenfold. They have government support and we have government interference.
