The Road to Fargo Begins April 13th at the USA  Wrestling New York City Freestyle Qualifier

The  USA Wrestling National Jr. Championships attracts over 4000 of the top high school wrestlers in the country from 49 states.  It is the recruiting Mecca  for high school wrestlers and collegiate coaches .

Every single one of the top 50 colleges and universities will be represented at the event.

The beautiful part is you don't have to win it  but just show  you have the "passion" to compete at the national level.  Many of our top New York State wrestlers in the past were not National Jr. Champions but competed  in the Championships.

Two of  New York State 1984 Olympic Champions, Ed and Lou Banach, never won the National Jr. Championships .   Lou never placed in 3 trips.  They were only 1 time NYS Champions and both were recruited by Iowa University because they liked what they saw while participating at the tournament.

They went on to win 5 NCAA Championships  for Iowa University as well.

High School wrestling is an 18-year old  and under tournament, college wrestling  is a 22 years and under and the World and Olympics is a Varsity tournament.

We all grow and progress  at different  stages of life .  Please do not judge yourself by what you  do in the beginning of your career, judge yourself after you complete your wrestling career.

High School  Wrestlers- Now is the time you step up and set  a GOAL for yourself of competing at the next level.

If you want to compete at the NCAA level then you must continue with the progression and development of your skills and techniques. .  There is no short cut to wrestling success.  You must  continue adding “jelly beans” to your jar.  The more jelly beans in the jar, the more potential there is for success!

The Beat the Streets Wrestling mission is to develop wrestling from Youth to the Olympics.  We are opening year round training centers for individuals who want to compete at the highest levels of wrestling.  We will provide the INSPIRATION, you must provide the PERSPIRATION.

If you think you have what it takes and want to compete at the national and college level, get involved by attending a local state qualifier. Check the schedule on this website.  For top wrestlers, Northeast Jr. Regionals April   4th -6th  at Brockport University.

All the  tough guys are at that one!

April 13 th Petrides HS in Staten Island. Applications are on the BTS website.

You must become a member of USA Wrestling, the national governing body for the sport of wrestling.  USA Cards Membership Cards will be available at Registration.
