PSAL High School Teams: Connectivity

The entire Beat the Streets initiative is to build a strong “feeder program” in the middle schools of each borough that connect to a high school that sponsors a wrestling team.

As students enter the 8th grade each boy or girl will have the option to continue wrestling at the high school in their area or in a specialized high school.

The partnership created with the DOE/PSAL has accelerated the number of high schools offering Interscholastic PSAL Wrestling teams.  There are now 57 high school wrestling teams in the PSAL system.

Enclosed is a list of the schools that are linked from the Beat the Streets website to the www.psal.org website.

Each middle school coach should begin connecting the information to the MS Guidance Counselor and the parents for all the 8th graders in the program.  There are many factors that are considered in the process pertaining to grades, curriculum and competition entering into the selection process.

Please provide a list of your 8th graders who have shown an interest and desire to continue wrestling in HS to us.  Parents and guidance counselors should also the list of 8th graders who show an interest to continue wrestling.

The final deadline in the past has been November 1st .  We need your help in connecting the dots growing the base of wrestling in New York City.
