Dear Coaches,
These are some of the most exciting times in the history of our BTS organization. As our Fortress League continues, we are making history as the first middle school league to ever host wrestling dual meets in New York City. Beat the Streets continues to break new ground and be the pulse of wrestling in NYC.
OUTREACH:
Congratulations to IS 126 of Long Island City, Queens, and its principal, Ms. Candice Scott, for being our 22nd Beat the Streets program signed this year!! Their coach Anthony Zaino, who is the asst. coach of LIC high school wrestling, was actually coached in Pee-wee football by Mike Cigala in College Point more than 15 years ago (it's a small world)!
BTS a subject for national campaign: Do you know that our Beat the Street wrestling program is the subject of a national campaign? A company called Media Place, which produces a cable TV show called "Reel Athletes," just finished producing a wonderful documentary on BTS, and was so impressed with our organization that they want to use it for a national campaign viewing the film in sport apparel stores throughout the country!
BTS SPRING TRAINING CENTERS:
There will be 10 (yes 10!) Beat the Streets training centers open within a week of this date.More than ever before!! Some are even open now! ( check the list on the web site and call for info). They are for both middle school and high school wrestlers.
These training centers will be open all spring long (April to late June) and will go hand in hand with our permanent training centers. The training center program is part of the BTS "10 REASONS TO LOVE OFF SEASON TRAINING" and will vary in days and times. Their common goal is to keep kids wrestling all-year around. This is the only way to improve your kids wrestlers' skills.....off-season wrestling. We have provided more opportunities than ever before. Let's get started.
SUMMER CAMPS PROGRAM:
There are over 5 summer camps choices this summer (from early to late July) to attend if you are a BTS / PSAL wrestler. Please talk to your wrestlers and choose a summer camp that is right for you. The camp is free of charge and we have an unlimited amount of scholarships available. Please contact executive director, Mike Cigala through email mcigalabts@yahoo.com or 718 350 1034. You can also reach Vinnie Russo or Ryan Coolie with your summer camp rosters and they will send you the proper applications and medical forms. Now is the time to sign up for summer camp.
WE HAVE MOVED:
In keeping with our BTS / PSAL connectivity philosophy, Beat the Streets staff operations has moved to the PSAL office in Long Island City. This move will help our entire operation and help us to serve you better.
